Which kinesiology tape for the hot tub or pool?
If you are hot tubber, SpiderTech precut kinesiology tape and spider tape by the roll are the strongest and most water resistant. KT tape is somewhat hot-tub friendly although I've found it to be the least sticky in the hot tub. And there is a extra water resistant kinesio tape
So for water sports, SpiderTech and extra water resistant Kinesio Tex Tape are your best bet.If stickiness is an issue, most athletic trainers suggest an extra step, a pre tape spray called Cramer Tuf Skin. It's been around since the beginning of time and is still one of the mainstays of most locker training rooms. This is a particularly good route to go if you've already bought a kinesiology tape and want to increase it's stickiness. In particular, the bottoms of feet that are, by nature, really sweaty can benefit from this spray. It is the application process which includes applying on dry skin, skin prep if necessary and rubbing the tape to activate the glue that are key to getting the staying power of the tape and the most out of it. If you apply lotion to your legs or self tanner prior to appllying the tape, it won't stay on as long and tend to fray, particularly in water. |
