Running Shoe Features/Benefits:

Product Resources

Probably one of the best kept secrets in running shoes is the Asics Gel 3010. What people complain most about stability shoes is the lack of cushion. This shoe, classified officially as a stability+ shoe, combines the best of a stability and neutral running shoe.

Lots of Cushion for a Stability shoe

Get the Asics Gel 3010 - Best Stability and Neutral running shoe

at amazon.com

You get the cushion plus all the guidance for anti pronation you find in a stability shoe. Those who have worn Gel Kayanos and loved them usually take to these shoes as well. I’ve even met runners who like this one better because of the amount of cushion, particularly marathon runners and those running over 50 miles a week. Of course, you don’t have to be a marathon runner to appreciate the cushion.

Many runners also commented that this shoe combines the comfort and stability they love with the Asics GT-2140 with the performance of the Asics Gel Kinsei 2. So I’ve earmarked this one as the ‘hybrid shoe’.

Runners I spoke with often have a pair of these and Gel Kayanos. If they can find them. Therein lies the rub. These are not easy to find. The internet is typically your best shot but many runners I spoke with have a card on file with their favorite running shoe store to call when that owner gets a pair in their size. Why they are rare is a mystery.

An attractive price tag for a high performance running shoe

Usually priced under $120, these shoes are a good buy for an elite running shoe with so many high tech features. Particularly if you consider the fact that they are a long lasting shoe that wears well.

Asics Gel 3010 is great for those with bunions

The predecessor to the Saucony Asics Gel 3010 was the Asics Gel 3000. Besides offering a pillow-like heel strike, improved stability and a comfy glove like fit, the Asics Gel 3010 has something called a bunion window, which feels great to those with this congenital foot malady. Also those who dislike the asymmetrical lacing of the Gel Kayano, which this runner happens to love, often gravitate to this shoe. Every one’s feet are different and every gait is as well.

Asics Gel 3010 has no break in period, great for high arches.

One of the first things I realized is that many runners will buy these very close to a race because they told me they have no break in period. To most runners, this meant no blisters which is key when you are running long distances.

The great arch support was also noted by runners with both high arches and those who were flat footed which surprised this reviewer. This is helpful to those who’ve suffered the dreaded and long-lasting plantar fasciitis.

At 10.4 ounces, it’s a lightweight shoe. Do note that it is narrow through the mid foot, which is perfect for some but a bit snug for others. Overall, this review took some time to put together since availability is often limited.

From those who owned the 3010 asics

Admittedly, I've not purchased these shoes myself since I was unable to find my size. I found a half size smaller to give them a test run on the track in the store and I have to say I was motivated to buy a pair to rotate in with my trusty Gel Kayano 16s. I'm an overpronator with high arches with a history of plantar fasciitis and inflamed bursitis on my right knee.

My Favorite Running Shoe

I loved these shoes to death. I switched to these from a pair of New Balance I had and the difference was night and day. So much better support and stability. The cushioning was a lot better too. I was surprised at how long they lasted.

Terrific shoe for high arches

I have very high arches plus have had plantar fasciitis. This is one shoe I can wear that actually makes my feet feel good and not hurt more. I am not a runner but am on my feet all day standing and walking. I also have a narrow foot and most running shoes are too wide. These are a bit narrower and fit me fine with a medium weight sock. I am thinking of ordering a second pair, I like the first pair so well.

Cured my shin splints

Great shoe for my late stage pronation and cured my shin splints. Needs more forefoot cushion for me, but lots of heel cushion. Brilliant fit - incredibly comfy. I love the low, stable platform which makes me feel "in touch" with the road. Overall near perfect for me. Please add some more forefoot cushion next year, Mr Asics :-)

Worst Running Shoe Ever

These are more for fashion and less for serious running. My Asics Cumulus 10 had started to lose their cushioning after 300 miles so I needed a replacement. I researched and thought I had the perfect shoe in the 3010's. These have to be the worst shoes ever offered by Asics. They do nothing but blister my big toes and the souls of my feet. A 2W in this shoe is more like a D width and do not lace up properly. The tongue is too long much like a Kayano. I'm going to see if Eastbay will take them back and if not it will be my last pair of Asics. I'll go to a Brooks or New Balance. The Asics Gel Cumulus is a far better shoe for much less money. I'm 44 and have been running for 4 years with over 1000 documented (and 400 undocumented) miles. Average pace is 9:15 / mile. My weight is 210 and I have worn out Kayano's, Brooks Beast, Asics Cumulus's and New Balance 1061's. I have a neutral gate, high arches.
