Lots of Misconceptions!

Not true:
As another reviewer has noted, the statement "Two Kinesiology Tape Brands in the U.S. and Europe. Kinesio is the original kinesiology tape brand marketing in the U.S. and K-Active is the European brand name" is not true. K-Active is a competing product; the "real" Kinesio Tex Tape is widely available in Europe and throughout the world.

"There are also Rock Tape, SpiderTech Tape, KT Tape and Rock Tape." This is true as far as it goes, but there is still a review on this thread that says RockTape is better than KT Tape. That does not address the "real" Kinesio Tex Tape either.

I admit, it's confusing. But take the time to find out what your need to know.

know the tape you are using

K-Tape and Kinesio Tex Tape are not the same- if you read the write up above, there are several errors and you would think the tapes are equal. As per some previous reviews, they are not equal. Please go to kinesiotaping.com and have a look and educate yourself. If you are a medical professional you may become certified to use the tape- in the USA we teach 3 day courses on various uses of KINESIO TEX tape.
I teach my patients to use this tape and as long as the application is simple? No problem. Learning from a book is difficult, take a course if you really want to learn how to use the original KINESIO TEX TAPE, created by Dr. Kenzo Kase.

KT tape

I saw this in the Olympics and was determined to find it. I use KT tape. From what i hear from my friends that use kinesio tape, they love KT tape much better. The tape stays on for a long time. I even wear it in the hot-tub without it becoming loose. I would advise everyone to try out kt tape: You won't regret it!

I WANT MORE!

I bought two rolls the kinesiology in Taiwan last july, it's very effective and i like to use it. My movement was fluent and comfortable. No doubt, the kinesiology tape is absolutely the best for your light/moderate injury!

I would like to share my expirence with the different tapes. For the past year, I have been using Kinesio Tape. However, several companies have been selling other tape that look similar. These were K-Active and BB Tape. I first tried K Active as the supplier reported that K-Active is the same as Kinesio, but just the European brand name. However, after one day of use, I got a really nasty rash. When I complained to the supplier, he advised me to call Kinesio. I duely call Kinesio to complain about K Active. I was then shocked to be told that K-Active is not produced by Kinesio and is a totally different company that sells a 'copy cat' from Germany!!!! I then tried BB Tape. It had virtually the same packaging as Kinesio and was more than half the price!! However, when I tried the tape, it came off after 2 hours.

My lesson learnt is that if you want to use Kinesio, the tape from Kinesio is diffinately the best. Other tapes are diffinately not the same.

I saw this on pro athletes. Just bought the tape.

I just bought the tape and the book. I got the clinical one and I wanted to see how it worked for my bad knee and tennis elbow.

I have only used it twice after reading about how to apply it in the book. I did apply the tape like it said and I do not know if it is healing it yet but it does help with the pain and it does feel better already. I wear this under a knee brace and a tennis elbow band. For my elbow, my wife has helped me apply it since it is hard to do one handed. Once you get the hang of it, it is not that hard. So worth it so far.

State of the Art

This stuff is state of the art and is really an amazing product. It applies very easily and although you don't use it like an ACE Bandage, it provides amazing support. I don't know a lot about the science behind it, but I do know it works. I don't see it in very many places, so I'm glad I found it online.

I did see it in the Olympics as well, which is validation in my book.

kinesio relieves pain

I probably prefer different brands for different purposes but this kinesio tape does work. So for instance, for back pain I get the pre cut spidertech tape. For anything around my feet KT Tape Pro because it stays on really well. But I still have a jumbo roll of kindesio tape and just used it on a wrist injury. I garden a lot and you'd not think this was a high injury activity but I have made it high injury.

Very Effective, But Difficult to Apply

The tape works amazingly well, if it is applied properly. Unfortunately, this isn't as simple as it looks. Without an instruction manual, it's almost impossible to create an effective application. I now use a new kind of kinesiology tape that's already pre-cut for different parts of the body. You just peel off the back and apply it according to the directions in the package. It's called SpiderTech Tape, and I found it at www.theratape.com. It's pretty inexpensive too - most of the applications are less than $10.

Shocked at how well it works

I had never heard of kinesio taping until I had ankle surgery a couple of months ago. I've been having a problem with swelling, and when I started physical therapy, the pt put KT on and around my ankle in sort of a fan shape (one strip on either side of the leg, wrapping down and around the ankle like an octopus). I was very skeptical... I wondered how simple tape could possibly reduce swelling? I even joked with my colleagues about how I didn't think it would work. The first thing I noticed was that the pain was less, and then in the evenings when the swelling was typically at its worst, it just wasn't as bad (not completely gone, but not nearly as much). Still, I was sure it was the PT exercises working and not the tape. After a couple of days, when the tape started coming off, I immediately noticed the swelling and pain return. It just seems not possible, but it really does work. I do think you have to know how to apply it correctly. I've been watching my PT and just ordered my first roll... I think I understand how to tape my ankle now. If you want to try it, I'd say to at least have a PT or someone knowledgeable teach you how to do it. This stuff is like Advil, but better!
